He was created by fire and suckled by a comet.
The Navajos considered the stars as sparks of Fire placed in the sky, thus the arrangement of the stars is credited to him, being he then the creator of the constellations
When he separated Earth from Heaven, a group of seven stars ("Dilyéhé": The Pleiades) remained attached to his ankle. Every time he stomped, a star would jump out and settle on the left side of his forehead. The Black God then decided to stomp as many times as necessary to place the stars that were still on the ankle in their final position."
He appears infrequently in his mythology and ceremonies, he is reclusive and generally apart from other deities.
He is the inventor of fire and of the sacred sticks that light the fire (essential in the sacred medicine cabinet of shamans) used in rituals.
He is associated with the night, and his spirit was invoked in the rituals of winter ceremonies, in the "Night Path" ritual.
