DATE: 12/08/65 TIME: 5 PM LOCATION: Scotland ID: 993 STATEMENT: 304 Some of the rarest species in the world are not just protected by us, but by royalty. We were invited to Balmoral Castle in Scotland to visit one of the most famous species in our roster, The Scottish Unicorn. The last surviving heard were given to the Queen Victoria in 1848 by the one of the oldest clans in Scotland as a gift of peace between the two countries. They have been bred on the castle grounds ever since and handed down through the Royal Family. The Unicorn has been a symbol of both Scotland and England and is nationally protected by law, even though their existence rains above top secret. Queen Elizabeth II spends a great deal at the property to this day, specifically to visit the heard. She recounted the first time her father, King George VI brought her to meet the Unicorns as a child and many of the family were surprised when she walked right up and pet them, especially as they are notoriously skittish. ------------------------------------------ ASSET ANALYSIS: Scottish Unicorn THREAT LEVEL: 1 (PASSIVE) Unicorns secrete a very rare set of chemicals that can advance healing in any organic tissue. Scientists have been trying to artificially recreate it for years but to no avail. A rare feature of the Unicorn is its natural bioluminescence that can only be seen at night, giving them a soft blue glow. Some believe that this was a reason why they were hunted so mercilessly in the middle ages. Though their horns look like dangerous weapons, they are used more for identification and a sign of health amongst the heard.
